Msds Gov

            MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is a form used to document the physical, chemical, harmful characteristics, manufacturers name, cautions and warning, government regulations and other information regarding hazardous materials/chemicals. MSDS Gov. means government law and regulation that are enacted by federal and state government; these rules and regulations are to be followed by manufactures of hazard chemicals and employers who use hazard materials in the work place. United States and foreign governments have laws and regulations concerning hazardous chemical MSDS.  The purpose of MSDS and government regulation is to prevent accidents, to provide occupational safety and health standards; the employers need to provide safety information and safety tools to employees.

                        . Federal OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration):

                                    . OSHA was created by Occupation Safety and Health act of

                                      1970. OSHA is responsible for hazard communication Standard

                                      29 CFR 1910 1200. From May 26, 1986 OSHA imposed the

                                      requirement for maintaining MSDS. Hazard information is to be

                                      communicated by the manufactures of hazard chemical to the

                                      distributor and employers. Line of MSDS distribution

                                       should be from manufacture to distributor, distributor to

                                       employer of a company, employer to employee. HCS (Hazard

                                       Communication System )minimum  requirement to include items

                                       of MSDS GOV. is as follows

                                              . Chemical Identity

                                              . Manufacturer's name and contact information

                                              . Hazardous ingredients and identity information

                                               . Physical and chemical characteristics

                                               . Fire and explosion hazard data

                                               . Reactivity data

                                               . Health hazard data

                                               . Precaution for safe handling and use

                                                . Control Measures

                                As per Federal OSHA MSDS for all hazard materials manufactured or imported are to

                                be maintained.

                  . EPA (Environmental Protection Agency):

                         . EPA's community right to know law (SARA Title II) also address MSDS Gov.            

                          . State and Local. Agencies:

                                . State OSHA: Federal OSHA does not have jurisdiction over state

                                  and local employees. State may have it's own OSHA to have state

                                  and local MSDS However federal OSHA monitors State OSHA

                                  plans; State OSHA should meet federal OSHA regulations. There

                                  26 states with State OSHA regulation..

                        . Exempted item that doesn't need MSDS Gov.:

                                            . Cosmetics

                                            . Drugs and pharmaceuticals

                                             . Hazardous waste and Remediation

                                              . Tobacco and tobacco products

                                              . Woods and lumber

                                              . Consumer products

                                              . Nuisance particulates and dusts

                                              . Ionizing and non-ionizing radiations

                                              . Biological hazards

                                             . Office and school supplies

            Below is a list of few foreign government occupational safety and health

            organizations:

                        . CANUTEC (Canadian Transport Emergency System)

                        . CCOHS ( Canadian Center for occupational Health and safety)

                        . International Occupational Safety and Health Organizations

          They have laws and regulations similar to U.S.A OSHA.
