Nothing lasts forever. As time goes by, wear and tear of bricks are inevitable. The view that you enjoyed perceiving it may not be the same beautiful view as it was first installed. Do you want to preserve that beautifully built brick wall or bricked surface? A brick sealant will be of big help to you regarding this concern. A brick sealant is free from any solvent and poisonous components. The sealant forms a hydrophobic barrier underneath and seals the moisture out while it remains porous to vapour. It will chemically bond with the substance making it unpeel-able. There will be no change to the surface when the substance is applied.
The benefits that can be acquired when a surface was applied with a brick sealant includes: enhanced resistance to efflorescence, freeze defrost damage, breaking and spilling. It is also ultraviolet ray resistant and is ideally used as a sealer for surface coatings. It is popularly used to protect and uphold bridges, parking garages, airport pathways, industrial plants and other concrete formations.
To protect masonry substrate against water related staining or deterioration, a brick sealant is used as an effective replacement to conventional solvent-based silanes or siloxanes. It will not leave a film surface impairing the natural breathing characteristics of the ministered surface when applied. It will not also darken color-sensitive surfaces. Brick sealants are characterized by its deep penetration ability and will produce a long lasting effect on either vertical or horizontally inclined surfaces. Usually it comes as water based formula to minimize explosion and fire hazards linked with alcohol and solvent-based repellents for interior application. When spilled out to window glasses and mirrors it can be easily washed with a soap and water since the product is mostly water based. It is alkaline stable that makes it suitable for green concrete surface applications. It will not prevent water penetration through structural cracks, defects or open joints.
Most of available brick sealants in the market offer restricted surface repellence. It also assures costumers that purchased product is of good quality. In addition to this, most of this sealants, when applied to pH unbiased surfaces, best performance may take up to 14 days. Keep in mind that surface must have to be well prepared or well cleaned. It must be free from any contaminants before applying the solution. In brick sealant application, always apply uniform patterns until soaked and the substance starts to run down. Appropriate application is through a paint brush or a roller applicator. However, preferred way of application requires exertion of low pressures. Garden type spray equipment is recommended for satisfactory results. It must be treated by light mist coating in order to break the surface tension. It must be immediately followed by a uniform flood coat allowing enough material to bear a 4-inch rundown from the contact point. Just always remember not to apply brick sealant to brick surfaces below 40 or above 100 degrees. |
